Question of the week; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...It absolutely does! If it didn't improve health why would millions of people have kept drinking it and making it, for thousands of years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a delicious tea-based beverage that many drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific data supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such studies. There are many centuries of popular stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not a true mushroom. It forms on the surface of the fermenting tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and resembles a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of numerous):

Testimonial - Energy: "I just finished my first week with Kombucha and right now I am in the process of starting the brew of my fourth batch. Let me tell you, I was skeptical of all the claims made about this elixir. The key word being was!! If nothing more, my energy level has increased dramatically this week, the tea is wonderful for that. My coffee comsumption has decreased by about half without me realizing it until my clerk at work asked me if she wasn't making it right for me anymore. All this in one week, I can't wait until it has been a month or more, so I can come back and tell you more of the benefits I am gaining from this!! (have my fingers crossed that my hair color will return to it's once beautiful red)... Thank you for introducing me to this wonder tea... Kombucha Tea safe?

Most ask this question because they know that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used for health improvement for thousands of years it is now being sold in food and health in the USA, it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The F.D.A. has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage if it is correctly prepared in a clean manner so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. Any food that you make has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

Nobody has ever died from drinking correctly prepared Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but some few people might be sensitive to any number of things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long in which case it becomes more sour. Drinking Kombucha Tea cannot change the pH level of your blood unless you were to huge quantities of the tea when it is sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking huge amounts of anything is usually not a good idea.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not common. Most common such molds are not harmful but they can ruin the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescription medications.

There is nothing that is naturally dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a great tasting drink that can can improve health!
