Question of the week; Does Kombucha Tea really work? Answer is...Absolutely yes! If it did not better health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and making it, for over 2000 years.

About Kombucha

Kombucha is a invigorating tea-based beverage that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific info supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of popular stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold in stores but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not a true mushroom. It forms on the surface of the fermenting tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because they know that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used for health improvement for thousands of years it is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the USA, it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The FDA has found this remarkable tea to be a safe drink provided it is correctly prepared in a clean way so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. All foods that you prepare can become contaminated but the risk is probably less for Kombucha because it is a fermented drink which as it ferments it creates a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

No one has ever died from drinking properly made Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over two millennium. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but some few people may be sensitive to any number of things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or a minor.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long then it becomes more acidic. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to huge quantities of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking huge quantities of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not common. Most common household food molds are not harmful but they can ruin the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily avoided by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this amazing tea; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can can improve health!
