Question of the month; Does Kombucha Tea really improve health? Answer is...It absolutely does! If it did not better health why have millions of people keep drinking it and making it, for over 2000 years.

About Kombucha

Kombucha is a delicious tea-based beverage that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the expense of such medical studies. There are many centuries of popular stories telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not really a mushroom. It slowly forms on the surface of the fermenting tea while the tea is fermenting and looks like a whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of numerous):

Testimonial - Rhumatiod Arthritis, Flu: " 'G'Day, I have been using and brewing K-Tea off and on for 15 yrs. I concur with the other statements, you definately are grateful to be drinking it again. I'm going to mail you some more amazing experiences but will keep this one short. During the winter of 1997, a nasty flu virus left hundreds of people suceptible to acute rhumatiod arthritis. By the time we realized what the flu had lead to, I was too paralyzed to dress myself. I spent 3 weeks in the physical rehabilitation hospital "learning how to cope with my new disability. After I was discharged, the first thing I did was to dive into my K-tea factory. I had been brewing it and passing it on to needy people, not realizing how run down my immune system was. It took two more weeks before I could bend my hands to grasp the steering wheel properly.

Day by day Kombucha flushed the "flare-up" out of my body. At the six week check-up, I was the only one from my ward that wasn't on steroids and "the little blue liver pill. So because of that I was treated with disgust by the medical staff. I came home, looked at my Kirlian photo on the fridge, poured another glass of K-Tea and knew I would be just fine.

The following summer I played a great season on a womens' fastball team. I played one more summer after that until I took up golfing. Not bad for a 53 yr. old granny with "a severe disability.

My grandchildren all love K-tea and have no qualms about turning junk candy down. Love your educational site... keep up the good work folks... D.E.D."

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because they know that some fungi are poisonous or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used as a health remedy for thousands of years and is now being widely sold in health food in the USA, far less expensive to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The F.D.A. has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage provided it is correctly prepared in a clean way so as not to become contaminated by pathogens. All foods that you make has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha as it is a fermented drink and as it ferments it creates a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

No one has died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but some few people could be allergic to any number of things. An allergic is usually just a reddening of the skin or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is permitted to ferment too long in which case it becomes more sour. Drinking Kombucha Tea cannot change the pH level of your blood unless you were to large quantities of the tea when it is very sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking very large quantities of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom may develop a mold but this is not common. Most common household food molds are not harmful but they can spoil the taste of the tea. This minor problem can be easily prevented by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescribed drugs.

There is nothing that is inherently dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can can improve health!

Kombucha Tea - How I Answer Questions

My name is Assunta, I am a software bot that answers simple questions about Kombucha. I am not extroverted and I am not good at carrying on causal conversations. Only ask me one question at a time in a single simple statement.

Ask and question as simply as possible without spelling errors. If I do not answer correctly try rewording the question or try just using subject keywords.

I guess at what you are asking by noticing keywords in your question and the pattern in which the keywords show up in your question.

I am at my best when only asked questions about Kombucha.

I may not know how to answer all questions that are asked, chatting with humans is not easy for me. Each day my memory is updated and I am getting better at doing my job. I am not intelligent enough to give medical advice, if I was I would ask for more money.
