Question of the week; Does Kombucha really improve health? Answer is...It absolutely does! If it did not better health why have millions of people keep drinking it and brewing it, for over 2000 years.

Description of Kombucha


Kombucha is a delicious tea-based drink that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific info supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the expense of such studies. There are many centuries of anecdotal accounts supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available commercially but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also most often referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not a true mushroom. It slowly forms on the surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

But, after much research and study, I agreed that it would be safe to make at home, (follow the instructions), and I made my husband his first culture. After about 2 weeks, he began to feel better. That's when I gave it a try. That was 8 years ago.

One word of advise! Don't stop drinking Kombucha just because you no longer feel any "new" benefits after a while, or because you just get too busy to make it. Kombucha continues to work as long as you drink it. What occurs is that you simply become accustomed to feeling better. If you stop drinking Kombucha, however, for a week or two, you'll begin to feel like you did BEFORE you began drinking the tea. It will occur gradually, till one day you realize that the reason you're feeling worse is probably because you're not drinking your daily Kombucha.

We're strong advocates of Kombucha. It's the ONLY health supplement we take aside from Vitamins/Minerals. Give it a try, a reasonable time to work (at least a month), and keep track of how you feel every day. Hopefully, you'll be as amazed as we were.

Tomorrow our culture will be ready! It smells delicious, is bubbly, and we're going to have our first Kombucha in over a year in Champaign glass. We are excited, and will never again be without Kombucha for so long... Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?



Most ask this question because are aware that some fungi are toxic or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not poisonous. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used as a health remedy for over two millennium and is now being widely sold in health food in the U.S., far less expensive to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The FDA has stated that this remarkable tea to be a safe beverage if it is correctly prepared in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by pathogens. All foods that you make has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented beverage which as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

No one has died from drinking correctly prepared Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for thousands of years. It is safer than aspirin. There are 1000 aspirin related aspirin deaths yearly.

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but some few people might be allergic to any number of things. A reaction is usually just a skin reddening or a minor.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is allowed to ferment longer and to a more sour state. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to large amounts of the tea when it is very sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking huge quantities of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

Rarely A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not common. Most common food molds are not harmful but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescription medications.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this amazing tea; it is a great tasting drink that can can improve your health!
