Question of the month; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...Absolutely yes! If it did not help to improve health why would millions of people have kept drinking it and making it, for over 2000 years.

What is Kombucha


Kombucha is a carbonated tea-based drink that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the expense of such studies. There are several centuries of anecdotal stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available in stores but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not really a mushroom. It grows on the surface of the fermenting tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?



Most ask this question because they know that some mushrooms are toxic or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not toxic. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used as a health remedy for thousands of years and is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the U.S., it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The FDA has stated that this remarkable tea to be a safe drink provided it is prepared properly in a clean way so as not to become contaminated by common food pathogens. All foods that you make has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol helping to protect it.

Nobody has ever died from drinking properly made Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over 2000 years. It is safer than aspirin. There are 1000 aspirin related aspirin deaths yearly.

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but some few people could be allergic to any number of different things. An allergic is usually just a reddening of the skin or a minor.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long then it becomes more acidic. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to huge amounts of the tea when it is very sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking very large amounts of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom may develop a mold but this is not common. Most common household food molds are not harmful but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This minor problem can be easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescription drugs.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can can improve your health!
