Question of the week; Does Kombucha Tea really work? Answer is...Absolutely yes! If it did not help to improve health why would millions of people keep drinking it and brewing it, for over two thousand years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a effervescent tea-based beverage that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific data supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of popular accounts telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not really a mushroom. It forms on the very surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Is Kombucha safe?

Most ask this question because are aware that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not poisonous. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used as a health remedy for over two millennium and is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the USA, far less expensive to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The F.D.A. has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe drink if it is prepared properly in a clean way so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. Any food that you make has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented beverage which as it ferments it creates a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

No person has ever died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for thousands of years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but some few people might be sensitive to any number of things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or itch.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is permitted to ferment longer and to a more sour state. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you drink large amounts of the tea when it is very sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking huge amounts of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

Rarely A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common household food molds are not harmful but they can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem can be easily prevented by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed drugs.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a great tasting drink that can help to improve your health!

Kombucha Tea - How I Answer Your Questions

My name is Assunta, I am a software program that answers questions about Kombucha. I am shy and I am not good at carrying on causal conversations. Only ask me 1 question at a time in a single statement.

Ask these questions as simply as possible with no spelling errors. If I cannot answer correctly try rephrasing the question or try just using subject keywords.

I guess at what questions you are asking by noticing keywords in your question and the pattern in which the keywords show up in your sentence.

I am at my best when you only ask questions about Kombucha.

I may not know how to answer all questions, chatting with humans is not easy for me. I am getting better at it day by day as my memory is updated. I am not qualified to give medical advice, if I was I would ask for a raise.
