Question of the month; Does Kombucha really improve health? Answer is...Absolutely yes! If it did not better health why have millions of people keep drinking it and brewing it, for over two thousand years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a invigorating tea-based beverage that many drink for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific data supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of anecdotal stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not a true mushroom. It grows on the surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of numerous):

Testimonial - General Health, Respitorary Health: "We recently ordered a new starter vial from Kombucha America. Tomorrow is our first day that we'll be able to drink Kombucha again in over a year. Because we moved, been busy, death in family, etc -- we lost our original culture.

Both my husband and I drank Kombucha for eight years. It's an amazing drink!!! For my husband, Kombucha really helped his constant allergies, and his arthritis. (In addition, he just generally "felt better" with more energy, better sleep, etc). For me, it's a godsend in clearing out my lungs each day. After 40 years of smoking, needless to say, my lungs are in ruins. But if I drink Kombucha both in the morning (first thing), and again at night, my lungs clear up, and I can breath cleanly. It's amazing. I've even tested this, putting off drinking Kombucha till later in the morning or afternoon, and it's the Kombucha that does the trick!

Many of you will be skeptical about drinking this "health" remedy -- much like I was. When my husband first came home from work talking about Kombucha stories from other employees, I thought it was bunk, he was crazy, and that the effects people were feeling at his workplace were simply the "placebo effect. As a Microbiologist, I was especially skeptical. But, after much research and study, I agreed that it would be safe to make at home, (follow the instructions), and I made my husband his first culture. After about 2 weeks, he began to feel better. That's when I gave it a try. That was 8 years ago.

One word of advise! Don't stop drinking Kombucha just because you no longer feel any "new" benefits after a while, or because you just get too busy to make it. Kombucha continues to work as long as you drink it. What occurs is that you simply become accustomed to feeling better. If you stop drinking Kombucha, however, for a week or two, you'll begin to feel like you did BEFORE you began drinking the tea. It will occur gradually, till one day you realize that the reason you're feeling worse is probably because you're not drinking your daily Kombucha.

We're strong advocates of Kombucha. It's the ONLY health supplement we take aside from Vitamins/Minerals. Give it a try, a reasonable time to work (at least a month), and keep track of how you feel every day. Hopefully, you'll be as amazed as we were.

Tomorrow our culture will be ready! It smells delicious, is bubbly, and we're going to have our first Kombucha in over a year in Champaign glass. We are excited, and will never again be without Kombucha for so long... S.L.A."

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because are aware that some fungi are poisonous or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used as a health remedy for thousands of years and is now being sold in food and health in the USA, it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The F.D.A. has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage if it is correctly prepared in a clean manner so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. Any food that you prepare has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented drink and as it ferments it produces a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

No person has ever died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over two millennium. It is safer than aspirin. There are 1000 aspirin related aspirin deaths yearly.

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but some few people may be sensitive to any number of different things. A reaction is usually just a skin reddening or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long in which case it becomes more sour. Drinking Kombucha Tea cannot change the pH level of your blood unless you were to large quantities of the tea when it is very sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking huge quantities of anything is usually not a good idea.

Rarely A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common household food molds are harmless but they can spoil the taste of the tea. This limited problem is easily avoided by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed drugs.

There is nothing that is inherently dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a great tasting drink that can can improve health!

Kombucha Tea - Answering Questions

I am named Assunta, I am a software program that answers questions about Kombucha Tea. I am not extroverted and I am not good at carrying on personal conversations. Only ask me one question at a time within a single statement.

State the question as simply as possible without spelling errors. If I have a hard time answering just try rephrasing the question.

I guess at what you are asking by noticing keywords in the question and the pattern in which the keywords are positioned in your question.

I am at my best when you only ask questions about Kombucha.

I cannot know how to answer all questions, chatting with humans is not easy for me. Each day my memory is updated and I am getting better at doing my job. I am not intelligent enough to give medical advice, if I was I would ask for more money.
