Question of the day; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...Absolutely yes! If it did not better health why would millions of people keep drinking it and making it, for thousands of years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a carbonated tea-based drink that many drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the expense of such studies. There are many centuries of popular accounts telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available in stores but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not a true mushroom. It slowly forms on the very surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and looks like a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of hundreds):

Testimonial - Vitality, Mood; "I've been brewing my own for only a couple weeks; but I love the feel and effect for overall vitality, or mood in particular. I'm doing this partly as an experiment: I'd love to be able to report that I'm getting increased help with a partial seizure problem (from a brain surgery 5 yrs. ago). We'll see!! Supposedly the beta -glucans found in KT are effective for reducing brain tumors and scars, and that may still be an issue for me.

Also, a great tip was to use the oven (off) with a light on constantly (to keep the fermenting tea at the proper brewing temps)! I think I have a 20W bulb in there, and a thermometer tells me it's generally in the mid/upper 70s, just perfect!! So easy. ... N.K."

Is Kombucha safe?

Most ask this question because they have heard that some fungi are poisonous or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not poisonous. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used for health improvement for over 2000 years it is now being widely sold in health food in the U.S., far less expensive to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The F.D.A. has stated that this remarkable tea to be a safe beverage provided it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by pathogens. Any food that you make has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha because it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol which helps to protect the tea against pathogens.

Nobody has died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but then again some few people may be allergic to any number of things. A reaction is usually just a minor skin blush or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is permitted to ferment too long then it becomes more acidic. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to very large quantities of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking very large amounts of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common such molds are harmless but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem can be easily prevented by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescription drugs.

There is nothing that is naturally dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can can improve your health!
