Question of the month; Does Kombucha really improve health? Answer is...Yes! If it did not help to improve health why have millions of people keep drinking it and making it, for over two thousand years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a delicious tea-based beverage that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific info supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the expense of such medical studies. There are many centuries of popular stories telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold in stores but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not really a mushroom. It grows on the surface of the fermenting tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of dozens and dozens):

Testimonial - Vitality, Mood; "I've been brewing my own for only a couple weeks; but I love the feel and effect for overall vitality, or mood in particular. I'm doing this partly as an experiment: I'd love to be able to report that I'm getting increased help with a partial seizure problem (from a brain surgery 5 yrs. ago). We'll see!! Supposedly the beta -glucans found in KT are effective for reducing brain tumors and scars, and that may still be an issue for me.

Also, a great tip was to use the oven (off) with a light on constantly (to keep the fermenting tea at the proper brewing temps)! I think I have a 20W bulb in there, and a thermometer tells me it's generally in the mid/upper 70s, just perfect!! So easy. ... N.K."

Kombucha Tea safe?

Most ask this question because they know that some mushrooms are toxic or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used for health improvement for thousands of years and is now being sold in food and health in the U.S., it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The FDA has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage provided it is correctly prepared in a clean way so as not to be contaminated by pathogens. Any food that you prepare can become contaminated but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

No person has died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over 2000 years. It is safer than aspirin. There are 1000 aspirin related aspirin deaths yearly.

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but some few people may be allergic to any number of different things. An allergic is usually just a skin reddening or itch.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment longer and to a more sour state. Drinking Kombucha Tea cannot change the pH level of your blood unless you were to large amounts of the tea when it is sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking large amounts of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common such molds are harmless but they can ruin the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescribed drugs.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this amazing tea; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can help to improve your health!
