Question of the month; Does Kombucha really improve health? Answer is...Yes! If it didn't improve health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and brewing it, for thousands of years.

Description of Kombucha

Kombucha is a effervescent tea-based drink that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific data supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the expense of such studies. There are many centuries of popular stories telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available in stores but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not a true mushroom. It slowly grows on the surface of the fermenting tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and resembles a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of hundreds):

Testimonial - IBS, Colitis, Chrons: "I just came across my previous testimonial from June 10, 2001 "I had Inflammatory Bowel Disease for ten years. I tried many alternatives... " Now it's June, , and I'm still symptom free. No doubt for me that Kombucha is effective against I.B.D.(Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's). Now I've learned more about the cause of I.B.D. and how Kombucha cures it. If you're interested, search for "Mycobacterium Avium Tuberculosis. Short version: it causes I.B.D. and Kombucha kills it. Not Kombucha pills or Kombucha tea bags, but authentic, fermented Kombucha tea... B.P."

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because are aware that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used as a health remedy for over two millennium and is now being sold in food and health in the USA, far less expensive to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The FDA has stated that this remarkable tea to be a safe beverage if it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. Any food that you make can become contaminated but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol helping to protect it.

Nobody has died from drinking properly made Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over two millennium. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but then again some few people may be allergic to any number of different things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or a minor.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long to a more sour condition. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you drink very large amounts of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking huge amounts of anything is usually not a good idea.

A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not common. Most common household food molds are harmless but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This limited problem is easily prevented by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is inherently dangerous about this amazing tea; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can help to improve your health!
