Question of the week; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...It absolutely does! If it did not help to improve health why would millions of people have kept drinking it and brewing it, for over 2000 years.

Description of Kombucha

Kombucha is a carbonated tea-based drink that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific data supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the expense of such studies. There are many centuries of popular accounts telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not a true mushroom. It slowly forms on the surface of the fermenting tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of dozens and dozens):

Testimonial - Depression, Inflammation: "I was having sone pain and inflammation in my tailbone. It became chronic and I really did not remember injuring it in any way. I have had a history of musculo-skeletal problems and another back injury a few months ago. I went to my local health food store and the man who worked there recommended Kombucha Tea. I may have tried it once in the past and was turned off by the taste. But this time I was determined to give it another try. I bought a 16 once bottle from a reputable company and from the first day I began to feel relief. The first thing was that I noticed I was able to think much clearer, and my depression which I struggled with for years was gone! I think I was depressed because I was sick and did not realize how much feeling sick all the time could affect my mind. When you feel better physically, you feel better mentally as well. Today is the second day and the pain in my tailbone has decreased considerably. It has to be attributed to the tea.

It seemed to put your bodily functions in balance. I have read about the warnings but if you buy from a reputable company, it's worth a try for anyone suffering from different ailments. Be careful, because it may have some natural caffiene affects so I being am conservative with it. But it is quite amazing stuff. ... Is Kombucha safe?

Most ask this question because they have heard that some fungi are toxic or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not poisonous. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used as a health remedy for over two millennium and is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the U.S., far less expensive to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The FDA has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage provided it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by pathogens. Any food that you prepare has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less for Kombucha because it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it creates a small amount of alcohol helping to protect it.

Nobody has ever died from drinking correctly made Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but some few people might be sensitive to any number of different things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or a minor.

The tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is permitted to ferment too long in which case it becomes more sour. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you drink large quantities of the tea when it is very sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking very large quantities of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common such molds are not harmful but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem can be easily prevented by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescription drugs.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can can improve health!
