As a people, we have become obsessed with Health. There is something fundamentally, radically unhealthy about all this. We do not seem to be seeking more exuberance in living as much as staving off failure, putting off dying. We have lost all confidence in the human body. ~Lewis Thomas, The Medusa and the Snail, 1979 |

If it didn't improve health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and brewing it, for thousands of years. Description of KombuchaKombucha is a carbonated tea-based beverage that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of anecdotal stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold in stores but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not really a mushroom. It grows on the surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and looks like a whitish colored pancake. Testimonial (Just one of numerous): Testimonial - Multiple Sclerosis (MS): "I am very happy with this tea. I have M S and have't had a shot in over a year since I started taking the tea... A.M.G."
