Question of the month; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...Absolutely yes! If it didn't improve health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and preparing it, for thousands of years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a invigorating tea-based beverage that many drink for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the expense of such studies. There are several centuries of popular stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not really a mushroom. It grows on the surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of hundreds):

Testimonial - Multiple Sclorosis, Energy, Sleep: "I'm am just writing to let you know that I have been drinking the tea now for one week. I have Multiple Sclorosis. Having to take a shot everyday has been painful. I haven't had a shot in a week since drinking the tea. I had been wanting to take a break but my body kept telling me that it wasn't ready. Since I have been drinking the tea I'm in a better mood, I have more energy, and best of all I have been able to sleep at night. I will definately let you know how I am doing as the weeks go on. By me drinking this tea hopefully I will get a little bit of my life back. I hate being so sore that my kids can't hug me... Is Kombucha safe?

Most ask this question because they have heard that some fungi are poisonous or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not toxic. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used as a health remedy for over 2000 years and is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the USA, it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The F.D.A. has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage provided it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by common food pathogens. All foods that you prepare can become contaminated but the risk is probably less for Kombucha because it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it produces a small amount of alcohol helping to protect it.

Nobody has ever died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but some few people may be sensitive to any number of different things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is permitted to ferment too long to a more sour condition. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you drink very large quantities of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking large amounts of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom may develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common such molds are harmless but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This limited problem can be easily prevented by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed drugs.

There is nothing that is inherently dangerous about this amazing tea; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can will improve your health!
