Question of the week; Does Kombucha Tea really improve health? Answer is...It absolutely does! If it did not better health why would millions of people have kept drinking it and preparing it, for over 2000 years.

About Kombucha

Kombucha is a carbonated tea-based beverage that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of anecdotal accounts supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not really a mushroom. It grows on the surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and looks like a whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of dozens and dozens):

Testimonial - Energy, Clarity of Thought: "I am a 19 year old male. In this past year my energy levels seem to have been going only downhill. I have recently started drinking and making my own Kombucha Tea, about 2 weeks ago. Within a couple days of starting this amazing tea I have noticed my energy levels have GREATLY increased. I am able to focus and think more clearly and just feel better! Just a couple of weeks ago I was beginning to wonder if I was suffering from chronic fatigue, but not anymore! Getting up in the morning used to be a chore, but now I wake up relaxed and refreshed. Try this tea, you will not be disappointed, it is simply amazing! ... Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because they have heard that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used as a health remedy for thousands of years and is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the USA, far less expensive to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The FDA has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage if it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by common food pathogens. All foods that you prepare has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less for Kombucha because it is a fermented beverage which as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

Nobody has died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for thousands of years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but then again some few people could be sensitive to any number of different things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or a minor.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is permitted to ferment longer and to a more sour state. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to large amounts of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking large quantities of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not common. Most common food molds are harmless but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily prevented by keeping the brewing jar properly covered and if it should occur is easily detected and you simple make a new batch of tea."]
