Question of the week; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...Yes! If it didn't improve health why would millions of people keep drinking it and preparing it, for thousands of years.

Description of Kombucha

Kombucha is a effervescent tea-based beverage that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are several centuries of anecdotal stories telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also most often referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not really a mushroom. It forms on the surface of the fermenting tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and resembles a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of numerous):

Testimonial - Osteopenia (Bone Pain) and Heart Problem: "I was suffering from osteopenia a precursor of Osteosperosis. My pain was nothing short of unberable. I got the tea for my husband's kidney stone. We both drunk the tea and about the second day of usage I was pain free, completely. I am giving this testimonial not because I like to write "testimonials" I am extremelly busy person, but it is a matter of conscience. My husband's faulty calcium metabolism was responsible for formation of kidney stones and heart problems. To make it short, our lives had been changed in a matter of one week regimen with this tea. I drink 4 full glasses a day. My husband drinks two... E.M."

Kombucha Tea safe?

Most ask this question because they know that some mushrooms are toxic or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used as a health remedy for over 2000 years it is now being sold in food and health in the U.S., it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The FDA has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe drink if it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by common food pathogens. All foods that you prepare has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha as it is a fermented drink which as it ferments it creates a small amount of alcohol which helps to protect the tea against pathogens.

No one has died from drinking properly made Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but some few people might be allergic to any number of things. An allergic is usually just a skin reddening or itch.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long to a more sour condition. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you drink large quantities of the tea when it is sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking very large amounts of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom may develop a mold but this is not common. Most common household food molds are harmless but they can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily prevented by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a great tasting drink that can can improve health!
