Question of the day; Does Kombucha Tea really improve health? Answer is...Yes! If it didn't improve health why would millions of people have kept drinking it and preparing it, for thousands of years.

Description of Kombucha

Kombucha is a invigorating tea-based beverage that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific data supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the cost of such studies. There are several centuries of popular stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available in stores but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not a true mushroom. It grows on the very surface of the tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of dozens and dozens):

Testimonial - Hormone Imbalance: "I have been drinking store bought Kombucha for a full month now, and looking for a way to make it. Thank you for your website! I will be making my order today for your starter. By the way, I read your disclaimer, and that is the best disclaimer I have ever read in my life! Especially near the bottom! Wish more businesses would be "real" people like yourselves! God bless you all! FYI Kombucha actually cured mine and my daughters hormone imbalances we have had for many years! After only 2 weeks for me. (I am 50-menopause) She is 20... M.L.P."

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because they have heard that some fungi are toxic or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not poisonous. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used for health improvement for thousands of years it is now being widely sold in health food in the USA, it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The F.D.A. has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage if it is correctly prepared in a clean manner so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. All foods that you make can become contaminated but the risk is probably less for Kombucha because it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it produces a small amount of alcohol which helps to protect the tea against pathogens.

No person has ever died from drinking correctly made Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for thousands of years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but then again some few people could be allergic to any number of different things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is permitted to ferment longer and to a more sour state. Drinking Kombucha Tea cannot change the pH level of your blood unless you were to huge quantities of the tea when it is very sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking large amounts of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not common. Most common food molds are not harmful but they can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly covered and if it should occur is easily detected and you simple make a new batch of tea."]
