Question of the week; Does Kombucha Tea really improve health? Answer is...Absolutely yes! If it did not better health why have millions of people keep drinking it and brewing it, for thousands of years.

About Kombucha

Kombucha is a delicious tea-based beverage that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are several centuries of anecdotal accounts telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available in stores but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not a true mushroom. It grows on the very surface of the tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and resembles a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of a large number):

Testimonial - General Health, Respitorary Health: "We recently ordered a new starter vial from Kombucha America. Tomorrow is our first day that we'll be able to drink Kombucha again in over a year. Because we moved, been busy, death in family, etc -- we lost our original culture.

Both my husband and I drank Kombucha for eight years. It's an amazing drink!!! For my husband, Kombucha really helped his constant allergies, and his arthritis. (In addition, he just generally "felt better" with more energy, better sleep, etc). For me, it's a godsend in clearing out my lungs each day. After 40 years of smoking, needless to say, my lungs are in ruins. But if I drink Kombucha both in the morning (first thing), and again at night, my lungs clear up, and I can breath cleanly. It's amazing. I've even tested this, putting off drinking Kombucha till later in the morning or afternoon, and it's the Kombucha that does the trick!

Many of you will be skeptical about drinking this "health" remedy -- much like I was. When my husband first came home from work talking about Kombucha stories from other employees, I thought it was bunk, he was crazy, and that the effects people were feeling at his workplace were simply the "placebo effect. As a Microbiologist, I was especially skeptical. But, after much research and study, I agreed that it would be safe to make at home, (follow the instructions), and I made my husband his first culture. After about 2 weeks, he began to feel better. That's when I gave it a try. That was 8 years ago.

One word of advise! Don't stop drinking Kombucha just because you no longer feel any "new" benefits after a while, or because you just get too busy to make it. Kombucha continues to work as long as you drink it. What occurs is that you simply become accustomed to feeling better. If you stop drinking Kombucha, however, for a week or two, you'll begin to feel like you did BEFORE you began drinking the tea. It will occur gradually, till one day you realize that the reason you're feeling worse is probably because you're not drinking your daily Kombucha.

We're strong advocates of Kombucha. It's the ONLY health supplement we take aside from Vitamins/Minerals. Give it a try, a reasonable time to work (at least a month), and keep track of how you feel every day. Hopefully, you'll be as amazed as we were.

Tomorrow our culture will be ready! It smells delicious, is bubbly, and we're going to have our first Kombucha in over a year in Champaign glass. We are excited, and will never again be without Kombucha for so long... S.L.A."

Is Kombucha safe?

Most ask this question because are aware that some mushrooms are toxic or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used as a health remedy for thousands of years it is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the U.S., it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The FDA has found this remarkable tea to be a safe beverage provided it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by pathogens. Any food that you prepare has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha because it is a fermented beverage which as it ferments it produces a small amount of alcohol helping to protect it.

No one has died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over 2000 years. It is safer than aspirin. There are 1000 aspirin related aspirin deaths yearly.

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but some few people may be sensitive to any number of different things. An allergic is usually just a skin reddening or itch.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is permitted to ferment too long then it becomes more acidic. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to very large quantities of the tea when it is very sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking large quantities of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom may develop a mold but this is not common. Most common such molds are harmless but they can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed drugs.

There is nothing that is naturally dangerous about this remarkable tea; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can help to improve your health!

Kombucha - Answering Questions

I am Assunta, I am a software bot that can answer questions about Kombucha. I am shy and not good at carrying on personal conversations. Only ask me 1 question at a time in a single statement.

State these questions as simply as possible without spelling errors. If I have a hard time answering just try rephrasing the question.

I guess at what you are asking by noticing keywords in the question and the pattern in which the keywords appears in your question.

I perform best when only asked questions about Kombucha Tea.

I cannot know how to answer all questions that are asked, communicating with humans is not easy for me. I am getting better at it day by day as my memory is updated. I am not qualified to give medical advice, if I was I would ask for a larger salary.
