Question of the day; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...It absolutely does! If it didn't improve health why would millions of people keep drinking it and making it, for thousands of years.

Description of Kombucha

Kombucha is a carbonated tea-based beverage that many drink for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific info supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are several centuries of anecdotal stories telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not really a mushroom. It grows on the very surface of the tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and looks like a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of many):

Testimonial - Cancer, Weight Loss, High Blood Pressure: " In September of 1996 I had a growth removed from my lower left side of my back and October 1996 was diagnosed with "Cutaeneous B-cell Lymphoma. Twenty six new tumors grew after the removal of 1 and I received radiation on that spot while being told this is a very rare type of cancer that always returns and grows new tumors. "Usually within 10 years patients lose the battle. "Get your affairs in order and pull out all the stops, try anything, I can't even give you a prognosis" was what I was told.

After 3rd degree burns fon my back from radiation and obesity, hypertension, and other problems I began to use Kombucha tea , the "water cure" and took supplements-including dietary changes. I got tons of energy, lost weight and my blood pressure went down. Within 6 months (March of 1997) there was no sign of any cancer. Even the radiation poisoning cleared up. Now almost 8 years after diagnosis I am still cancer free.

My Kombucha was destroyed during a break in at my home (December 1997) so I stopped brewing my tea. Now overweight again and hypertensive I know I want Kombucha in my life agan and for the rest of my life. Delicious, nutricious, energizing, and in my case-life saving! ... Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because are aware that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used for health improvement for thousands of years it is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the USA, far less expensive to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The F.D.A. has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe drink provided it is correctly prepared in a clean way so as not to be contaminated by pathogens. All foods that you prepare can become contaminated but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented drink and as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol helping to protect it.

No person has died from drinking correctly prepared Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but then again some few people may be sensitive to any number of different things. An allergic is usually just a minor skin blush or a minor.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long in which case it becomes more sour. Drinking Kombucha Tea cannot change the pH level of your blood unless you were to very large amounts of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking huge amounts of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom may develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common household food molds are not harmful but a contamination can ruin the taste of the tea. This small problem can be easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is inherently dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a great tasting drink that can can improve health!
