Question of the week; Does Kombucha Tea really work? Answer is...It absolutely does! If it didn't improve health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and preparing it, for over two thousand years.

What is Kombucha


Kombucha is a carbonated tea-based beverage that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such studies. There are several centuries of popular accounts supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold commercially but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not a true mushroom. It slowly forms on the surface of the fermenting tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and resembles a near whitish colored pancake.

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?



Most ask this question because are aware that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used as a health remedy for thousands of years and is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the USA, it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The F.D.A. has stated that this remarkable tea to be a safe drink provided it is correctly prepared in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by pathogens. All foods that you prepare has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha as it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it creates a small amount of alcohol which helps to protect the tea against pathogens.

No person has ever died from drinking correctly made Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but some few people might be allergic to any number of different things. An allergic is usually just a minor skin blush or a minor.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long to a more sour condition. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you drink huge amounts of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking very large amounts of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common food molds are harmless but they can ruin the taste of the tea. This minor problem is easily prevented by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a great tasting drink that can can improve your health!
