Our body is a machine for living. It is organized for that, it is its nature. Let life go on in it unhindered and let it defend itself, it will do more than if you paralyze it by encumbering it with remedies. ~Leo Tolstoy

Question of the month; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...Absolutely yes! If it did not better health why would millions of people keep drinking it and preparing it, for over two thousand years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a carbonated tea-based beverage that many drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such studies. There are several centuries of popular accounts supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold in stores but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not a true mushroom. It slowly grows on the surface of the fermenting tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of dozens and dozens):

Testimonial - General Health: "The old adage of "If it seems too good to be true then it is" generally is a wise one, particularly in these times. However, if there ever was an exception to prove the rule then KOMBUCHA is it! Whatever drug company or medical agency say to disclaim the wonders of this boon to humanity only strengthens my resolve to educate people.

My own success story is a testament to the validity and wonder of this blessed little "mushroom.

Recently aired on PBS was an episode of "Dr Zorba Pasta on your Health", normally reliable to give straight talk on things medical he blew it big time. Taking a call from someone who had heard about the wonders of a "Chinese Mushroom" thereby describing the Kombucha miracle, he responded with "I have never heard of anything like this before, please dismiss it, it is valueless. The singular point to this is that he has talked about the Kombucha twice before over the last few years and in both instances devalued it without any reason or research or case studies. This is what the main problem is, ignorance and misleading information, plus the medical profession and particularly the drug companies concerned for their billions of ill-gotten gains.

Believe it people, I would not live without this product... W.E.G.

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because they have heard that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not toxic. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used for health improvement for over two millennium it is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the USA, far less expensive to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The FDA has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage provided it is prepared properly in a clean way so as not to become contaminated by common food pathogens. Any food that you make can become contaminated but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha because it is a fermented drink and as it ferments it produces a small amount of alcohol which protects the tea from obnoxious pathogens.

No person has ever died from drinking properly prepared Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for thousands of years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but some few people might be sensitive to any number of different things. A reaction is usually just a skin reddening or a minor.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is allowed to ferment too long then it becomes more acidic. Drinking Kombucha Tea cannot change the pH level of your blood unless you were to large amounts of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking large amounts of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

Rarely A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not common. Most common such molds are not harmful but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This minor problem can be easily prevented by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescription medications.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this remarkable tea; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can help to improve your health!
