About Kombucha

Kombucha is a delicious tea-based beverage that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific data supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the expense of such studies. There are many centuries of popular accounts supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold in stores but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not really a mushroom. It slowly grows on the surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Most ask this question because are aware that some mushrooms are toxic or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom and it is not poisonous. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used for health improvement for over two millennium and is now being sold in food and health in the U.S., far less expensive to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The F.D.A. has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage if it is prepared properly in a clean way so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. All foods that you make can become contaminated but the risk is probably less for Kombucha as it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it produces a small amount of alcohol which helps to protect the tea against pathogens.

No person has ever died from drinking correctly made Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over 2000 years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but then again some few people could be allergic to any number of things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment longer and to a more sour state. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to very large quantities of the tea when it is very sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking huge quantities of anything is usually not a wise thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not common. Most common household food molds are harmless but a contamination can ruin the taste of the tea. This limited problem can be easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is naturally dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can will improve health!

Kombucha - Answering Questions

My name is Assunta, I am a software program that answers questions about Kombucha. I am not extroverted and not good at carrying on causal conversations. Only ask me one question at a time in a single statement.

State these questions as simply as possible without spelling errors. If I have a hard time answering just try rephrasing the question.

I guess at what questions you are asking by noticing keywords in your question and the pattern in which the keywords are positioned in your sentence.

I perform best when you only ask questions about Kombucha.

I cannot know how to answer all questions that are asked, communicating with humans is not easy for me. I am getting better at it day by day as my memory is updated. I am not intelligent enough to give medical advice, if I was I would ask for a larger salary.
