If it did not better health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and making it, for thousands of years. What is KombuchaKombucha is a carbonated tea-based drink that many drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of anecdotal stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available in stores but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not a true mushroom. It grows on the very surface of the tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and looks like a whitish colored pancake. Testimonial (Just one of numerous): Testimonial - Colds, Flu, Weight, Arthritis: "I made and drank my own Kombucha tea for about 1 1/2 years before I left it ferment too long once and my culture died. Well, the main thing I noticed was that I did not get one cold or flu for the entire time I was drinking it. Also, I lost a small amount of weight initially and my arthritis was at least a little improved. After not drinking it for about a month, I came down with a terrible cold or colds with the symptoms lasting over two months! Well, needless to say I have started drinking Kombucha again and we'll see if it keeps the viruses at bay. My hair is still grey though... T.L.C."
