Question of the week; Does Kombucha really improve health? Answer is...Yes! If it didn't improve health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and preparing it, for over two thousand years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a delicious tea-based drink that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific info supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of popular stories telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available in stores but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also often popularly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not a true mushroom. It forms on the surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and looks like a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of hundreds):

Testimonial - General Health: "The old adage of "If it seems too good to be true then it is" generally is a wise one, particularly in these times. However, if there ever was an exception to prove the rule then KOMBUCHA is it! Whatever drug company or medical agency say to disclaim the wonders of this boon to humanity only strengthens my resolve to educate people.

My own success story is a testament to the validity and wonder of this blessed little "mushroom.

Recently aired on PBS was an episode of "Dr Zorba Pasta on your Health", normally reliable to give straight talk on things medical he blew it big time. Taking a call from someone who had heard about the wonders of a "Chinese Mushroom" thereby describing the Kombucha miracle, he responded with "I have never heard of anything like this before, please dismiss it, it is valueless. The singular point to this is that he has talked about the Kombucha twice before over the last few years and in both instances devalued it without any reason or research or case studies. This is what the main problem is, ignorance and misleading information, plus the medical profession and particularly the drug companies concerned for their billions of ill-gotten gains.

Believe it people, I would not live without this product... W.E.G.

Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because they know that some mushrooms are poisonous or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used as a health remedy for thousands of years and is now being sold in health shops and grocery stores in the U.S., far less expensive to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The FDA has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe drink if it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. Any food that you prepare has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less for Kombucha because it is a fermented drink and as it ferments it produces a small amount of alcohol which helps to protect the tea against pathogens.

No one has ever died from drinking correctly made Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for thousands of years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but then again some few people could be allergic to any number of different things. An allergic is usually just a skin reddening or a minor.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is permitted to ferment too long to a more sour condition. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to huge quantities of the tea when it is very sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking large quantities of anything is usually not a good idea.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not common. Most common food molds are not harmful but a contamination can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem can be easily prevented by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescription medications.

There is nothing that is inherently dangerous about this remarkable tea; it is a great tasting drink that can will improve your health!
