Question of the day; Does Kombucha really improve health? Answer is...Yes! If it did not better health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and making it, for over 2000 years.

About Kombucha

Kombucha is a effervescent tea-based drink that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific data supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the expense of such medical studies. There are several centuries of popular stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold in stores but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This produces the kombucha culture which is also referred to as the "mushroom" although it is not really a mushroom. It slowly grows on the very surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and looks like a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of many):

Testimonial - Prostate Cancer: "In January my partner was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer with a PSA of nearly 800. The cancer had spread to the hip and thigh, the pain was insupportable. After ten days of taking increasing doses of Kombucha (starting at 50ml and going up in 50ml increments culminating in a litre a day in four 250ml doses), all the pain had gone and he was able to walk normally without even a walking stick. The flesh of the right leg had become almost necrotised, and not only was it restored but varicose veins which had been present for decades disappeared completely. A catheter had been inserted and we were expecting the (usually) necessary operation in June , but the trial without catheter was passed after the third attempt. In 6 months the PSA was down to 127, after 18 months it had dropped to 0.8 (normal is between 0 and 4.0). The prescribed medicine is 3-monthly injections of Zoladex, which treatment began some weeks after the Kombucha had worked its miracle and got rid of the awful pain, at the very least?... Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because are aware that some fungi are toxic or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not poisonous. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used for health improvement for over 2000 years and is now being sold in food and health in the USA, far less expensive to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The FDA has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage if it is prepared properly in a clean way so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. Any food that you make has a risk of contamination but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha because it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it produces a small amount of alcohol which helps to protect the tea against pathogens.

No one has died from drinking correctly prepared Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over two millennium. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but then again some few people might be sensitive to any number of things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is permitted to ferment too long then it becomes more acidic. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you drink large quantities of the tea when it is sour, this would not be a smart thing to do, drinking very large quantities of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom could develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common household food molds are harmless but they can spoil the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily avoided by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can help to improve your health!
