Question of the month; Does Kombucha Tea really improve health? Answer is...It absolutely does! If it did not better health why have millions of people have kept drinking it and making it, for thousands of years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a invigorating tea-based beverage that is often drunk for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific info supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies or have been conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of anecdotal stories supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available commercially but can easily be prepared by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not a true mushroom. It slowly forms on the surface of the fermenting tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of hundreds):

Testimonial - General Health, Skin Health: "I discovered kombucha about 10 years ago. I was 6ft, 150 lbs, coffee drinkin smoker. after drinking kombucha for a couple of weeks I quit drinking coffee. 2 months after I quit smoking. I drank kombucha for about 6 months and gained 30 lbs of healthy body mass. For a while I was drinking a pint a day. I craved it so much. as my health improved the craving for it deminished and I lost interest in the sunday tea making ritual. Now I find myself craving it again. I have been trying to find a new source for a while and came across this site. It is great to see something like this available. If kombucha isn't the turning water into wine story then I dont know what is. I discovered that the strongest tea is a great cold sore remedy, and that an old kombucha whipped up in the blender makes the greatest hand and body lotion. One aplication will give 2 to 3 days of dry skin relief. and its free..!!! No wonder doctors or pharmacutical companies won't even look at it. Well that is my 2 cents worth. Time to order a new baby and find the old pickle bottles. I can taste it now :) ... Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because they have heard that some mushrooms are toxic or they have been misinformed about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not poisonous. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha has been used for health improvement for over two millennium it is now being widely sold in health food in the USA, it is a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

Kombucha Tea is not a drug. The FDA has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe drink provided it is correctly prepared in a clean manner so as not to become contaminated by common food pathogens. Any food that you prepare can become contaminated but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha as it is a fermented drink which as it ferments it creates a small amount of alcohol helping to protect it.

No one has ever died from drinking correctly prepared Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for thousands of years. One thousand people a year die from taking aspirin, so which do you think is safer!

Kombucha Tea is a fermented drink and , but then again some few people may be sensitive to any number of things. An allergic is usually just a minor skin blush or itch.

Kombucha Tea is acidic but no more so than wine, orange juice, or grapefruit juice, unless it is permitted to ferment longer and to a more sour state. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to very large amounts of the tea when it is sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking huge quantities of anything is usually not a good idea.

A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common such molds are not harmful but they can ruin the taste of the tea. This limited problem can be easily prevented by keeping the fermenting tea properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is inherently dangerous about this beneficial beverage; it is a great tasting drink that can can improve health!
