Question of the week; Does Kombucha Tea really work? Answer is...Yes! If it didn't improve health why have millions of people keep drinking it and brewing it, for over 2000 years.

What is Kombucha

Kombucha is a delicious tea-based drink that many drink for its health benefits or medicinal purposes. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the cost of such medical studies. There are many centuries of popular accounts supporting health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available commercially but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a spongy mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also most often referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not a true mushroom. It slowly grows on the very surface of the tea while the tea is fermenting and resembles a whitish colored pancake.

Kombucha Tea safe?

Most ask this question because they know that some mushrooms are toxic or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. People only call it a mushroom, it is not a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used for health improvement for over 2000 years and is now being widely sold in health food in the U.S., far less expensive to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The FDA has stated that Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage provided it is prepared properly in a clean manner so as not to be contaminated by pathogens. All foods that you prepare can become contaminated but the risk is probably less for Kombucha because it is a fermented beverage and as it ferments it creates a small amount of alcohol helping to protect it.

Nobody has died from drinking properly made Kombucha Tea and yet millions of people daily drink this remarkable beverage and have done so for over two millennium. It is safer than aspirin. There are 1000 aspirin related aspirin deaths yearly.

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but some few people may be allergic to any number of things. A reaction is usually just a reddening of the skin or a minor.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is allowed to ferment longer and to a more sour state. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to huge quantities of the tea when it is sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking very large amounts of anything is hardly a smart thing to do.

A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common food molds are harmless but a contamination can ruin the taste of the tea. This small problem can be easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most all prescription medications.

There is nothing that is inherently dangerous about this remarkable tea; it is a delicious and safe beverage that can will improve health!
