Question of the month; Does Kombucha really work? Answer is...Yes! If it did not better health why would millions of people have kept drinking it and making it, for thousands of years.

Description of Kombucha

Kombucha is a effervescent tea-based beverage that millions drink for its health benefits or medicinal reasons. There is scientific information supporting health benefits but unfortunately few studies are being conducted mainly due to the cost of such studies. There are several centuries of popular stories telling of health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is sold in stores but can easily be made at home by fermenting tea using a solid mass of yeast and bacteria often nicknamed a SCOBY. This forms the kombucha culture which is also most commonly referred to as the "mushroom" but it is not really a mushroom. It grows on the very surface of the tea during the period of time the tea is fermenting and looks like a near whitish colored pancake.

Testimonial (Just one of dozens and dozens):

Testimonial - Colds, Flu, Weight, Arthritis: "I made and drank my own Kombucha tea for about 1 1/2 years before I left it ferment too long once and my culture died. Well, the main thing I noticed was that I did not get one cold or flu for the entire time I was drinking it. Also, I lost a small amount of weight initially and my arthritis was at least a little improved. After not drinking it for about a month, I came down with a terrible cold or colds with the symptoms lasting over two months! Well, needless to say I have started drinking Kombucha again and we'll see if it keeps the viruses at bay. My hair is still grey though... Should I be worried about the safety of Kombucha?

Most ask this question because they know that some fungi are toxic or they have been told misinformation about Kombucha. Kombucha is not a mushroom it is not toxic. It is only "popularly" called a mushroom.

Kombucha Tea has been used as a health remedy for over two millennium and is now being sold in food and health in the U.S., far less expensive to make it yourself.

The tea does improve health but it is not a drug. The FDA has found Kombucha Tea to be a safe beverage provided it is prepared properly in a clean way so as not to be contaminated by common food pathogens. All foods that you prepare can become contaminated but the risk is probably less so for Kombucha because it is a fermented drink which as it ferments it makes a small amount of alcohol which helps to protect the tea against pathogens.

Nobody has died from drinking correctly made Kombucha Tea and millions drink the tea daily and have done so for over 2000 years. It is safer than aspirin. There are 1000 aspirin related aspirin deaths yearly.

Kombucha Tea is a fermented beverage and , but then again some few people might be allergic to any number of things. An allergic is usually just a reddening of the skin or itch.

The tea is acidic but no more so than grapefruit juice or orange juice, unless it is permitted to ferment too long to a more sour condition. Drinking Kombucha Tea wil not change the pH level of your blood unless you were to large quantities of the tea when it is very sour, this would be foolish to do, drinking large amounts of anything is usually not a good idea.

A Kombucha mushroom might develop a mold but this is not likely. Most common household food molds are harmless but they can ruin the taste of the tea. This small problem is easily avoided by keeping the brewing jar properly coveredKombucha is not known to counteract negatively with most prescribed medications.

There is nothing that is dangerous about this amazing tea; it is a great tasting drink that can help to improve your health!

Kombucha - Answering Questions

I am named Assunta, I am a software program that can answer questions about Kombucha. I am not extroverted and not good at carrying on personal conversations. Only ask me 1 question at a time in a single simple statement.

Ask these questions as simply as possible with no spelling errors. If I do not answer correctly try rewording the question or try just using subject keywords.

I guess at what you are asking by noticing keywords in the question and the pattern in which the keywords appears in your question.

I am at my best when you only ask questions about Kombucha.

I may not know how to answer all questions that are asked, communicating with humans is not easy for me. I am getting better at it day by day as my memory is updated. I am not qualified to give medical advice, if I was I would ask to be paid more.
